Color Me RED!!!

Ladies, you know how it is when you find the PERFECT shade of lipstick (or lip gloss); it matches your complexion and doesn't necessarily need and event to be worn?? Well, that's how I feel about red lipstick. When I say red, I mean from the most subtle tone of red, berry red, to the most electric tone of red... I FREAKIN' LOVE IT. I personally feel like I have a very full lip shape and some colors I wear typically start a conversation for me. However, the color red is noticeable enough to allow me to speak first! When it comes to buying lipstick I am a frugal black butterfly but this Summer I saved my coins to afford me the opportunity to experiment with some different brands that have beautiful shades of red lipstick as well. So, I increased the budget (slightly) and shopped at some more expensive (not too expensive) brands. I usually shop NYX, MAC, Wet N' Wild and Cover Girl for my lipsticks but this time I dip and dabbed my way into Tarte Cosmetics and Nars....MIND BLOWN! The difference in prices, from what I'm used to purchasing- to where I newly shopped, can range in an increase from $10-15, not a problem right!? Wrong...when you're buying more than one, but I digress...

I have heard A LOT about Tarte Cosmetics... Okay, I've seen a lot about them on social media and when I initially was suggested to try a shade of red at my neighborhood Beauty Brands store I was excited and apprehensive. I thought to myself, "I'm in a committed relationship with MAC's "Ruby Woo" but I am also looking to see what else is out there" ....so, I cheated and picked up 3 shades:

1. Cheerleader $20

2. Vibin' $20

These colors run the color red spectrum that I love so much: Subtle, intense and explosive

OMG. When I wear NARS cosmetics, I feel like the need to tell people (mostly because of the cost....I'm cheap!) I mean it is on the pricey side- but it also makes me feel like "I've arrived" even if I really just came to visit! NARS Matte Lipsticks feels luxurious, velvety and when it dries it doesn't leave you with that crusty lip feel at all. I picked up 4 colors and I LOVE them like a fat kids loves cake!!!

1. Dragon Girl $27

2. Endangered Red $27

3. Mysterious Red $27

4. Infatuate Red $27

So there it is, I have definitely explored the more expensive (I think) brands of lipsticks and I'm sold. Why? Well, in comparison to Drug Store brands (in my opinion) they go one with one application- there is no need to touch up, also the colors are more pigmented and the Mattifying factor doesn't leave you with "Dope Phine" lips. Would you splurge on lipsticks, have you, what are your thoughts?

XOXO,

Normal Black Chic
