Talk is Cheap!

Those who know don't talk, those who talk don't know.

-Lao Tzu

I'm currently reinforcing the notion that talk is cheap, I mean think about it: What you do should speak for you not vice versa. I admit to getting caught up in my emotions, thoughts, feelings, feeling like the underdog and overly explaining what I'm doing when in fact the only relationship between work and chatter is that one kills the other. With that being said, talk is cheap! If we are going to really win out here, it's time to talk less, I mean way less and get focused. I recently was inspired to read, "Ego is the Enemy" by Myleik Teele (she's not the author but check her out she is amazing!) in the introduction of this non-fiction piece of pure amazingness the author (Ryan Holiday) quickly tells you to first check yourself aka your ego at the door in order to reach success. You won't get to where you want to be in life you by talking about it - it's the work that you are doing, regardless of who is watching and or supporting - it's the consistency of what they don't see that will create success!

Check out these motivational quotes from the book that I've jotted down thus far:

1. Silence is strength.

2. Success requires a full 100 percent of our effort, and talk filters part of that effort away before we can use it.

3. Doing great work is a struggle. It's draining , it's demoralizing, it's frightening-not always, but it can feel that way when we are deep in the middle of it.

4. Never give reasons for what you think or do until you must.

How to master talking less about your goals and get things done:

1. Avoid speaking to fill empty space on social media.

2. Avoid speaking to impress others.

3. Focus

4. Maintain consistency.

With that being said, actions speak louder than words. Let's commit today to no longer being an impostor to our wants and desires-on and off of social media, instead let's let our actions speak for what we affirm to manifest into our lives. Success is not for the faint or the weary, it's an uphill battle of which only the consistent will survive. I'll meet you at the top!

XOXO,

Normal Black Chic
