It's been 2 weeks since my last post but believe me when I say that it was for a good reason, I had some challenges that I had to face. Facing challenges aren't easy and even knowing all the affirmations in the world won't stop you from feeling some sense of anxiousness along with a disgusting headache when things just aren't working in you favor. I recently was almost stopped by an unrelenting force: procrastination. In the past I would tell people that I am THEE best working procrastinator in the world- hands down, until recently...I've given up the title for reading the fine print and doing the damn thang immediately!
See what had happened was, I was given a deadline on some
reeeeaaaalllyyy important work that I needed to complete, well I let that go and go and then I looked up and I had roughly 30 days to get things taken care of by the deadline- lots of money later (LOTS!) it was accomplished but I didn't need to go through all of the phone calls, red tape and tears if I would have did what I should have done earlier. One of my favorite motivational speakers Eric Thomas once said, "Procrastination simply means it's not important to you" and I completely agree. Do not settle for later, later on or anything other than right now...the older I get and the more serious my business adventures are I've realized that my old notions cannot keep up in this pick up game called "Real Life". I must sharpen my skills and even though I am solely working for my self right now, I am the example of what I want it to look like and how I want my businesses to run once I bring others on board to work with me.
How to kill this disgusting habit (procrastination):
1. Tackle important tasks right away. Listen to me friends, the sooner it's done the sooner it's over. The more time you drag a project out the less likely you are to really focus on important details.
2. Give yourself a pep talk. I am the Queen of telling myself, "You can do it!" I have my own back 100% I love when we win and when we learn- we never lose!
3. Aim for done NOT perfect. It's okay, nobodies perfect but at least you've completed your goal. Life is a learning experience and we are constantly learning what works and what doesn't- perfection is boring anyway!
As I venture on my new found procrastination free life, know that I am taking pleasure in leading the way; taking all the hits and doors slams for us all- I will always be here to share, sharing is caring (Thanks, Barney!) But seriously, I am doing this with you because I know if you are a avid reader of my blogs we are on a mission together towards success- I'll see you at the top!
XOXO,
Normal Black Chic
